After a show, :Noni Rene wants people to walk away feeling like they’re on fire!
“I want people to know that they can just be themselves, and show up in a way that's more alive… that’s how I'm experiencing the world right now,” she adds, “it feels dead and that needs to change.”
As long as Noni’s plans come to fruition, she’ll bring it back to life.
She has the creative energy, the positivity, and the focus to do it.
“I'm excited!” she says, as she gets ready to record in the studio.
“I want to have fun! I want to reintroduce groove to the world! I want my music to make people feel good, talk to each other and overcome any grief.”
With new music and business partners in place, :Noni, a Philly-based singer and guitarist, is on the verge of making things happen. She’s worked hard to get here, and she knows that there’s lots more work to be done. But, it’s all good.
“A part of me feels like I’m closer than I realize,” she says, referring to her break-out moment. “I don't know. I’m also my toughest critic because another part of me feels like I still have so much that needs to be done in order to get there.”
In speaking about the music she’s making, :Noni describes her music as “melodic conversations.”
“I would say that describes my music,” she says, mentioning that it has also been described as “grunge-soul,” which makes sense.
Her sound combines the love & passion of soul with the earthiness of grunge. “My main goal right now is to be more comfortable in my skin, play music that emerges organically from that, and build community.”
She’s right. And she already has. Noni’s shows, are poised again to be glorious incubators of heat and light, touching both the head and the heart. Her groove-based tunes are geared to get people moving, and her authentic, intelligent, and compassionate lyrics come from a place that gets people thinking.
Bigger things are happening. Noni has recently added, rather than replace, a new brand, to go along with her bold approach. “I don't like to say I've changed my name. I've just taken on an additional moniker to mark this new chapter, a new energy I'm feeling. It’s bolder and braver and
I’m tapping into my voice a lot more.”
Like all artists with worthwhile talent, :Noni crafts her work and is planning her journey. During the global lockdown of 2020, :Noni found ways to move forward. She established an alliance with REC Philly and Amuse.io, which gave her a legit label relationship by way of a sponsorship that granted her access to network resources designed to help her move forward and she has additional projects on the horizon.
“I’m going for my definition of success,” she admits. “That is, to release more bodies of work, starting with the Good Vibes EP, and to connect with more people with my songs. That’s what it’s all about.”
True enough. But now real success means no turning back. “I feel like I'm on the precipice of a big change,” she says, “because I'm about to release this project and, man, we're in the thick of it! I'm determined it's going to happen! We’re so close!”
